need info on swaping V8 in to 6cyl truck
 

on the frame rails are the two rear holes for a v8 and two front for 6 cyl? Truck has a sb in it now but new holes were drill when it was put in. also the turbo 350 thats going in has the long tail shaft. What might it cost to get it shortined.

It sounds like someone drilled new holes to mount the small block?? I'm wondering what lower ounts you have now. The factory small block lower mounts will locate in the forward holes and the 6 cyld. mounts will locate farther back. You can mount the engine in the truck using the 6 cyld. lower mounts but it will have your distributor shoved back against the firewall. Lots of guys use this for drag racing for better weight distribution. I would recomend you find some small block lower mounts, they will bolt in only one way in the forward position. The last driveshaft I had shortened cost me 100 bucks if memory serves me, if you don't take too much off sometimes you can luck out without a rebalance of the shaft. Sometimes no go and you will have to rebalance it.

As above---easy conversion. Might consider a bigger radiator for cooling as well---. I have small block v8 towers available for $35. plus ship. Also have a long and short Turbo350's available. Depending on your truck---LWB or SWB---you could go with a double or single drive shaft solution. I have stock double for a long block available too. I would tend to go with the stock locations as V8's run much better with HEI ignition and running it with the 6cyl location will pinch that possibility more then you might like. thanks guys sorry it took soooo long to reply. my truck is swb w/ HEI. I'm goin to a freinds place to look for sb lower mounts tomorrow. but still will need to shortin the driveline by about 3 0r 4" i think, i havnt really checked it out yet. i just needed to sell the truck and decided to pull the 400 i biult so as not to take such a lost, what a mess it turned into.

also front springs are really weak with the sb, will the spring of off my 78 burb donner bolt in and if so is it a b!tch?
