my Brown Bread installation
 

Here is a link to my site illustrating how I installed the Brown Bread in my truck. A couple different people were asking how it went and what not, so I wrote this up. Hope it helps anyone out who is going to do this or is considering it. I believe it was a worth while upgrade.

Jeff the article look great. Your install pics are killer too. Are you going to do the back of the cab? I hear that makes it much quieter.
I had the doors done inside and out on mine. Roger at Stoked out said just doing the doors made the truck sound tighter. I can't wait till this winter when I do the entire cab...:cool:

Ken, yes I will be doing the back of the cab...as well as the trans tunnel. There are a few runs in the paint below the back window, my painter is going to wet sand it and buff it...so I am going to wait on that area. I also have to determine my shifter location, once that is figured out, I will be doing the tunnel then.

How in the heck did Roger get the brown bread inside the door? I plan on attempting the doors, but with the small access hole and all that is going on inside and outside the door...I thought it would be difficult.

Jeff you will have to ask him about that. I found that one of the guys from the 67-72 forum had done it on his truck. He said it wasn't easy, but was well worth the effort. I told Roger about it, and he said he would give it a shot. I haven't seen the truck yet, but he says it worked great. He put it inside the door "and under the door panel.

The 'brown bread' makes a definite audible improvement when you just 'thump' the door shell. I compared the way your sounds to how mine w/o insulation sounds & there's quite a bit of difference (enough that I'll be doing mine as well). Oh, BTW... I think Roger mentioned you needed a new ign switch.


On another note..... I was able to fix my ignition switch this week.....

Just a thought, but if you have a hard time getting the brown bread to work, some sound deaening pads (Q-pads) from an auto body supply store might work well, too. They are usually 10-12# square, so they might fit in the holes in the door better. Also, it seems like the 77-up doors have a lot bigger access holes in them, too.

BTW - how are the little lady and pooch doing?

They are both doing very well. I had to take the dog back to the vet last weekend. The damn hospital left a drain tube in his leg and his body was pushing it out. We thought it was an infection. The tube was about 5" long. After he got that out, we have not had any problems. I am going to do an update soon on the GD forum (with some new pics). It is amazing how well he is doing. I am so glad hes doing great, I would hate to spend this kind of money and still not have him around. But we got lucky and he is strong, he'll be around for a long time to come.

GF is also doing very well, every once in awhile she says it hurts.
