Progress pics

The body guy is back on my project, much to my relief. His helpers got the frame scuffed up and it hopefully will get painted today. It is not going to be a primo job, just getting the outside frame rails painted with some heavy duty stuff he has on hand.

His helper got the cab taped up yesterday morning and the body guy got the base coat shot and a couple coats of clear. The last coat wrinkled a little so he has some repair work to do unfortunately.

Here's some pics, they aren't great cause where the cab is right now was very dark. (I couldn't find the light switches)

Where the gas tank filler was filled looks really good, can't tell it was there.

He has a fair amount of work to do to the hood and he still needs to do more work on the doors.

Putter 04-14-2004 11:36 AM

Sweet. I bet it looks even better once you find the light switch!!!

JIMs70GMC 04-14-2004 11:36 AM

Looking good! Got the bullet hole patched also, I see.

barn9 04-14-2004 12:29 PM

LOL! The thought of the bullet hole story, and with that nice silver paint, I think this truck should now be known as "The Silver Bullet" from now on, hehee!

Yukon Jack 04-14-2004 12:35 PM

I'm not much for naming projects - kind of reminds me too much of Stacy with the TV show Trucks, but I was thinking "Late Night Affair" would be pretty fitting because my wife accused my truck as being my mistress a while back because I always go to the barn at night to work on it. Think she was hinting that I spend too much time in the barn - but of course I ignored that! The Silver Bullet, hmmm, that is pretty fitting too.

Man I love that color! I can't believe you stole my idea. :D
Can't wait to see it all together.

Big J 04-14-2004 12:55 PM

That is an awesome color. Are going with trim or are leaving it all smooth?

Yukon Jack 04-14-2004 01:08 PM

No trim, it is a flatbed truck and I think flatbed trucks look better without trim.

Dean 04-14-2004 01:30 PM

Looking great! You will be getting excited when you start putting it back together.

Blue Beard 04-14-2004 09:19 PM

If we call his truck the Silver Bullitt, does that mean we call him The Lone Ranger....?

barn9 04-14-2004 11:15 PM

Meathead, I saw a truck several years ago with a similar paint scheme like you posted above, except it was red on top, with a black/gray combo graphic (not very wide), and silver bottom. It really looked good, but I didn't have a camera with me, and have never seen it again.

69ride 04-14-2004 11:54 PM

lookin good. i think dubie will agree with you 100% on the flatbed with no trim idea.:D

Yukon Jack 04-15-2004 11:38 AM

By gawd, you can call me the Lone Ranger, but only if I get to wear the mask!

Stopped by today, not much done yesterday, supposed to be painting the frame and miscelanous black parts today. Lots to do, but getting there. Thanks for all the compliments. Hope to have more pics tomorrow.

isn't a flat bed a work truck? That thing is too perdy to be a work truck :) That is looking good. That silver will really set off the lines (or what ever they are refered to on these trucks)
