we use paint thinner (turpentine) on all our carb rebuilds for the soak. Let that sucker sit overnight in the bath, pull it out, wash it out with water, then take pressurized air and blow it dry, making sure to get every passage.

For restoration projects, we shoot the main body with clear coat, but just on the outside and we mask all the gasket surfaces and such. Makes it look brand new.
