I have a 305 in my S10, the same one that ran in my 1 ton flatbed(78 & ugly), & the kids 89 ford ranger. the 305 is a little underpowered in a full sized truck.....but will work in a "pinch". I have one of my favorite oiling systems for street use.....a 6 Q truck pan, with a melling Z28 replacement pump. The top was done(fresh grind & a set of Z28 springs). the old tired chev runs a Crane fireball H290 cam(.454 lift, 216 dur @ .050), & idles fairly smooth. it runs pretty good in that small truck, & not too bad in a bigger truck(provided the gears are low enough). crazyL
