You'll laugh, I used high heat ceramic engine paint. The ceramic gives it a nice, candy-ish plastic-y finish, it's very bright, and does the job well. Chevrolet orange, I dont' remember who made it, but I bought it at wal-mart.
used it to paint needles on a motorcycle gauge cluster, and held up to fading surprisingly well.
