I have been very satisfied with the HP cameras. Even the low end ones seem well worth the money.
I had an HP 315, which is bottom of the line useable camera. A flash and lcd screen are it's only real features...2.1 mp...it was dropped, kicked, sat in the truck in 100+degree weather, left in the rain dropped in the mud....and still kept on going. My wife lost it on a roller coaster.

I have an HP 635 now, and while it is the same 2.1 mp, it has plenty of other features that was not on the 315. short movie clips...with sound, a 3X optical and 4X digital zoom, and so far, it has held up fine. One thing I don't like about this one is it uses internal memory, which is fine, but to expand the memory you need the model specific card, the generic card that many others use won't work.
I just bought another 315 on e-bay for 30 bucks to my door...great X-mas gift for my son. I know it is durable enough for him, and 30 bucks is cheaper than a 35mm camera and 2 rolls of film.
