Well, think of the dynamics. You have a different combustion chamber, and possibly smaller ports. What about the valve trains? The cam may be effected...

Like I told you earlier I have a 327 manifold married up to a 1980 350. The intake ports are smaller, and I had to advance it quite a bit to get it to stop stumbling on acceleration (even after I rebuilt the carb), but it runs great now.
