guy I'm concerned about your post because you don't have a tv cable in your new tranny and you didn't say what it was going into or what setup You have. The other guys are correct saying that the tv cable has to be set up properly in order to shift right and to avoid damage. They are a little paranoid though because the tv cable will control line pressures for the shift points and until the trans is put into gear no fluid transfer will occur. The primary damage occurs when the transmission is in overdrive and the torque converter runs unlocked. This generates large amounts of heat and transfers to the clutch paks and if it exceeds 250 degrees it may damage them beyond repair. part of my concern is if you have the correct adapter for the tv cable mount at the carburetor. Thats why I asked you what application you were using. There are many useful sources of information about the 700r4 and how to setup the tv cable. The link above is one of them and there is a thread in the FAQs about them also.
