You are correct for the most part but after being burglarized TWICE and my wife's car pulled out of my driveway over the time we've lived here(~12yrs)... I found that my being a lite sleeper helps quite a bit. Actually the revolver action was enough to stop one crack head in his steps! He fell to his knees and we waited over an hour for the police to get to my home!
The police officer wasn't to thrilled about my home defense either but he understood why I have them.
No we don't live in a bad neighborhood but for what ever reason criminals like to target it...
