My 80 with a 350 gets extremely hot as well. Check that your heater ducts are all good, not that there is a big gap in one of them somewhere. Also check to make sure that the heater fan is blowing sufficiently, if there is little airflow, there will be little heat. Also, check to make sure that you don't have air in your heaterbox, that will seriously hamper the amount of heat it puts out. You can fix that by drilling a very small hole in the thermostat, and bubbles will come out of it and into the rad.
