Where are your hoses connected?

The bottom inlet of the heater core should be hooked to the intake. The top port is the outlet and it has to be the top so it will purge air. The return goes either to the Radiator or the water pump depending on the year.
185 degree thermostat. Drop the glove box door and the heat flap is on top. Make sure its opening.

All three of my trucks (2 K5s and a Sub) did fine on heat given enough time since they were SUV's All three will get your feet uncomfortably hot on the coldest day when you dump to the floor.
