Damn mine doesn't work either!!!!!
'Course mine's the '70 style wheel with the plastic cap. When I push the button it pops back like it should but there's something not making contact inside. I DO know that if you tighten the three screws on that plastic thing down too tight it won't release and it will stay shorted.
