Post best way to store engine and carb

Pulling the 388 stroker in my buddy's El Camino this weekend. Engine will probably be stored a year or so for another project.
In the past, I've just pulled 'em and put in 'em in a corner, but this is a high-dollar engine, and I want to store it correctly.
Also, what's the best way to store the Edelbrock carb so that it doesn't gum up over the same period of time.
