Yes, Edlebrock took over making the carb but as I understand it, they made some 'improvements' in the hopes of better mileage.
If you get the two side by side, there's noticable differences.

I have two blazers, pretty much the same set up, motor/gears ect...one has a Edlebrock carb and a Performer manifold, the other has a Carter carb and a Holley Contender manifold.
The one running the Carter/Holley set up IMO runs way better and has more seat of the pants power to it, better response too.
Changing over the first one to a Carter/Holley street dominator set up soon.
It's sitting on the bench waiting for me to get the time.
