If all you're doing is swapping the engine and they're both older model engines, I've had several people tell me it's a bolt-up job if you have the right mounts and the number of splines on the tranny are the same. You might mount to a diff't spot (the L6 and V8 engines use different mount points on the frame, I'm pretty sure). You can probably use the existing bellhousing. Hell, I just got a 4spd manual tranny from an '84 van or something and it bolts right up to my bellhousing for my 3spd saginaw tranny.
