I was replacing the rear springs on my 64 Galaxie. Decided to save some time and unbolt both back springs at the same time. Had the axle free of the springs, knocked the rear hanger bolts out, springs slammed down, the axle came down and rotated. It pulled the shaft out of the tranny as it slid backwards down the springs. Did I mention that I was parked at the top of a dead end street??? After chasing the axle bout a block, I grabbed the driveshaft, and it pulled me off my feet, but I hung on. About three layers of skin later, the damn thing finally stopped. I pushed it back up the hill, removed gravel from the front of my body and went back to work.
