Speaking from experience here, if your metal strips are not GM, be sure to measure the width and depth of them before you use those measurements. I just grooved mine using GMC Paul's measurements, and my new aftermaket strips wouldn't fit. My strips were narrower and not as deep. Nothing that can't be fixed, but measuring my strips first would have saved me some work.
