A 650 should be a good choice for you. I've had one on a daily driven 86 GMC PU for years. If the carb has been sitting for that long, spraying it out with some WD-40, or CRC would be recommended. You may even want to install new bowl & metering block gaskets on it, or atleast check them, but other than that you should be good to go.
