If you left the shocks in the stock location, like you said, it is possible they are no longer at an effective angle to dampen the springs.

You're going to have to relocate the shocks so they are at a similar angle to stock. Vertical is best, but yields a harsh ride. 30 degrees from vertical is the very limit of getting any decent dampening from your shocks.
