Hi ,
I got sometimes the same problem on my 1977 Impala ( 250ci / TH350 ) ...
while driving , put your speed selector from D to N & back to D , and see if the 3d speed engages ...
if yes , change your oil bath & filter , it could solve the problem , it did for me anyway...
seems strange , huh ?
have no idea where it comes from , sometimes I just have to play with that selector a little ( a little bit up ) , and the third speed engages , I must have a link & rod problem too ...
