Mike, the PS pump on your '79 should be a saginaw pump...that style won't work? Those are THE most common pump I think...and unless your kit specifically was ordered for a different pump, I would be surprised if it didn't work.
Like boxrodz said, go visit NAPA and have them start pulling pumps...you will find the one you need, heck, you might even get lucky and find a knowledgable counter person who can narrow down your search.
BTW - FTP is now working. Powweb changed some stuff around (which required me to do the same), and they were also having technical diffucilities.
