The rebuild was not radical except the mechanic talked me into an RV cam (whatever that is). I use the pickup to pull a 6,000 pound sailboat to the West coast from Montana. It has plenty of pulling power once I get a few RPMs but it has a difficult time pulling the boat up a ramp. The heating problem usually involves having my pickup on the boat ramp at an idle while I load the boat. The exhaust pipes are in the water so I don't want to turn the engine off as the exhaust would fill up. The ignition is electronic but is an aftermarket type out of JC Whitney.
