I measured about ~3" gain when I did this to the spare cab I have (as practice before cutting a perfectly good cab). Yes, your head is going to be closer to the cab window/wall so no headrest could mean collision is possible upon impact. But, FWIW, years ago my head hit the back of the cab from a crash in a truck w/o this modification & a stock bench seat.

Nice work Efabman. Mine looks primative compared to yours. I didn't finish it out or anything though..... I just did the initial cut to see how things would clear. I'll finish the 'real' one out & hopefully it will look as nice as yours.
