I disagree. When done in moderation, cutting coils is not dangerous. The key factor is moderation. 1 coil cut from the stock springs nets typically a 2~3" drop in height w/an approx 20% increase in spring-rate. If cut w/a method that localizes the heat, it does not effect the springs tempering.....For 2" of drop, cut a coil from the stock springs & if you don't like the ride, buy some aftermarket drop springs.
Like Scoti, I have done it waaaaay to many times to be told it won't work. If you keep the heat down, and don't cut more than a coil, it will work and will not sag any more than a stock spring.
