Custom 68 the van levers are shorter and will fit the stock tilt. Tilts are for tilts..standard column shifters wont interchange. I see quite a few newer steering wheels which have a smaller diameter used with the van shifter. I must have ten newer steering wheels here from vans.
As for the knobs coming off..I've never had any problem here getting them off. Sometimes when I'm at a yard I just walk by and pull them off.
