Factory big block trucks did indeed use a fenderwell mounted reservoir. It's held to the fender with two 5/16 bolts which screw into the reservoir bracket. The reservoir bracket is spot welded to the reservoir itself.

I'll try to find a picture of my big block truck to show you.
