IMO I would say go for the long wheel base truck first, sounds as though it just needs painting and its ready to ride, shortbed trucks pop up all the time sometimes at killer prices so just get something that will be practical for you to use and that trouble free especially since this will be your first truck.and Welcome Aboard.....
