I'm not planning on using it for continous duty. I just thought it would be nice if you want to make a few cuts to not have to drag a cord out. I already have a few 18v tools with extra battieries so having a spare charged up wouldn't be a problem.
They also have a heavy duty Heavy-Duty 6-3/4" Metal Cutting Saw Kit - DW934K-2 that looks pretty serious.
I don't see any reason why you couldn't use a wood blade in this saw. The only drawback is you can't tilt the deck for a bevel cut...
