OrangeSunshine, that's a power brake air cleaner. It's offest over the engine to allow booster clearance.

I have one on my beater truck. It's probably the most valuable part on the truck.

If the side covers are 4 inches tall, it's a 230 or 250. If they are 6 inches tall, it's a 292. Also, 292's have a bypass hose from the water pump to the thermostat housing, that the 230/250's didn't use.
