It's usually done by the off-road guys to get more suspension travel & to help reduce or eliminate bump steer. To make it drive like a new truck though is questionable. On our trucks you basically use a 2wd steering box which puts the ptiman arm parallel to the frame rail. This then allows the drag link to cross over to the other side to an aftermarket steerring knuckle. I'm sure somebody here or on the 4x4 board will come up with a picture for you.
