I have seen the jap compressors used on small block street powered rods before but I would suggest going with a later model GM compressor and BB bracketry for ease of parts. I used all new GM serpentine brackets and accessories for a 1996-2000 L29 454 application on my 454HO. My local Napa store custom made the A/C hoses for $80. The downside is the cost of the accessories if you buy all new stuff as, you would have to change your alternator to a newer style, water pump to a late model reverse rotation pump, fan blade and fan clutch as well as the P/S pulley. May cost a bit but well worth the cost.
