If your not going for looks, and are gonna drag race it you could lose a bunch of pounds by removing the bed. The bad part of this would be it probably wouldn't hook up to good. Back in the 70s my uncle used to race a old ford in the 4 wheel drive races. He removed the bed, doors, interier, all the glass and eventually shortened the frame, there was a bunch of trucks like that that raced back then.
