If all you are doing is repairing the fenders, then it's probably less work to remove them rather than to remove the entire clip. If you plan to clean up the engine bay & paint, then by all means - remove the clip. You'll be able to get to everything. Both jobs are about the same amount of work, but you can handle a fender by yourself . . . a clip usually requires some help (unless you're Superman)
