Re: What would you do? 3/4 vs 1 ton

Well, this might require a little more work, but if you plan on wheeling the 3/4 ton do this. Swap out the 3/4 ton drivetrain with the 1 ton parts. I know you juast sunk some money in the 3/4 ton axles, if you already have a 14bff out back, just swap the front axle. Regear the d60 to 4.56. Install the BB/400/205 combo. Take the old parts and put them in the 1 ton and sell it. with the refreshed parts you should be able to break even and upgraded your truck at the same time.

Now if your plans include painting the 3/4 ton to make it show worthy (with less to zero actual off-road miles), I wouldn't waste the time on the swapping of parts as it wouldn't be worth the effort.

Ideally you would keep both. show off the nice 3/4 ton and wheel the wee out of the one ton....That is if you could.......

If you were to part out the 1 ton for its highly desirable parts you could easily make more than you paid for it. Chevy D60 cores are going for an easy grand, ones in good shape that you could install today are worth more. 400/205 combos are about as tough as you can get for an offroad automatic. The 205 would be the highly prized 32 spline input and output version too. Perfect for a 203/205 doubler....

It's up to you in the end...
