Re: How much have you lost due to rust?
When I was a kid, Dad had a '50 Plymouth 2-dr sedan. There was a small hole that developed, right behind the drivers seat, just where you would have to put your foot to climb in. As the car aged, it became my duty to keep MY foot over the hole to keep out the rain and "stuff". I was the oldest, and had the biggest foot, plus a propensity for pukin' in the movin' car....left me with a need to be near the door/window, etc.
Some people will tell you that they have lost the bottom quarter of the vehicle, due to rust. Have seen some pix on this website, of missing portions of the vehicles.
Found some stuff that people have lost, like a big ol' pair of channel locks, near a plumbers' shop, also a 14.4 Volt Ryobi light that I believe fell off of a guys boat, one evening.....just missed running over it so I picked it up at an intersection. Cost me almost $100 to get the charger for it, along with a new cordless drill and carrying case and two more batteries, and a 5-inch circular saw.
