SHIFTY... TRY LOCKING THE MALE PART OF THE SHAFT IN A VICE & HITTING THE FLANGE WHERE THE RAG JOINT GOES WITH A BFH. I'VE MADE THESE TOO SHORT BEFORE & THIS WORKED FOR ME. JOHN
