Re: 1 or 2 peice drive shaft?
I always run 1 piece shafts on shortbeds.
Just remove the carrier bearing assembly and chunk it away. You're going to have to have a new driveshaft built anyway, so a 1 piece one will be easy.
Look in your phone book under "driveshaft shops".
