They are supposed to be installed dry. With the exception of a dab where the timing chain cover and block meet on both side. Then the rear main area where the one piece gasket tabs go, it needs both side just like the front.

I had to take the long road to figure out why my front crossmember kept filling up with oil. That was why, I didn't put any sealant on the timing chain cover. So that's where it leaked and ran down to drip on the crossmember and fill up the lip full of oil.
