Main thing is to cut out as little of the original floor as possible/reasonable/workable because all the patch panels have thinner sheet metal than the original. Also, try not to cut thru the reinforced plate surrounding the body mount bolt in the floor (on each side). The floor and plate below it rarely rust thru. Cut out the bottom of the cab supports to survey the rust in the floor, the body bolt sleeve, and the inner rocker. That will guide much of your need to cut.
