the only downside to that is you'd be firing into the back of the head of the listener. I would mount mine one of three places:

In the door pillar (if possible)

In/around/near the defroster vents OR in the center of the dash in the stock 4x6 plate location.

In kick panels at your feet (cross-firing..passenger side fires at driver, driver side fires at passenger). There are some really killer looking kickpanels I've seen at this forum. I have attached some I saved for personal reference.

See, you want them to fire at the head of the person for the high range speakers, but you want to have some distance from their head to give a feeling of "distanct" which is also known as "sound stage" (I think) - emulating the feeling of space. If you got it firing into the back of your ear, the cage of the ear isn't catching it really...and it is going to overpower everything having a tweeter scream in your ear.
