I'm not sure how much I am digging on the chrome cowl either. I'll probably reinstall the original cowl at some point after I get it buffed out. I have a small buffer on order to do that and some smaller detail pieces. Lacquer is where its at if you want shiny paint. It doesnt last as long as enamel and regular waxing is absolutely required but with a little 1200 grit sandpaper and a buffer you can really make it shine. A lot of people are asking me if I am going to clear coat it? WHY ? Nothing makes a panel harder to match or go to hell faster than a big old slathering of clear paint.
