Re: polished rims vs chrome rims
I have had many sets of billet wheels, as well as chrome wheels. Here are my observations-
Billet-
Pro's
Look awesome when new.
Available in any backspace.
Available in any width.
Minor curb rash can be repaired at home.
Major curb rash can be repaired economically.
Con's
After you get them mounted, they have to be polished.
If a dog pees on them, they have to be polished.
If you splash water on them while hot, they have to be polished.
If the sprinkler system sprays them all night, they have to be polished.
If you go to a car show, they have to be polished.
If you keep them in a climate controlled garage, they have to be polished.
Unless they are stored in a hermetically sealed bag, they have to be polished.
Chrome-
Pro's
Look awesome when new.
After you get them mounted, they clean up with Windex.
If a dog pees on them, they clean up with Windex.
If you splash water on them while hot, they clean up with Windex.
If the sprinkler system sprays them all night, they clean up with Windex.
If you go to a car show, they clean up with Windex.
Cons-
Available in limited backspace.
Available in limited width.
Minor curb rash can be repaired but it's expensive.
Major curb rash can be repaired by replacing the wheel.
