On my 74' 3/4ton 4x4 a buddy was helping me with a Rancho kit at his friends auto shop. I was shocked when it came time to "pop" the stearing arm off. He grabbed a short handle sledge and went at it for about 30 seconds. Keep in mind he's a certified master tech with 15 years under the hood. He said there are three cone washers that you have to break loose.
