I got my front driveshaft lengthened out as Brake Service, and they thought my CV was bad and it would cost about 200 bucks to fix. But, the counterman being the genious he was,he got looking at the shaft and saw that it a was just a u-joint gone. He even gave us a free u-joint to put in.
So yeah they can be fixed, but it will be pricey. I think LMC has the parts to fix it up, but they cost quite a bit. I'd start heading to junkyards or looking around the for-sale section. Note that if your truck has a Rockwell t-case, a NP205 shaft will NOT work, it's too long. You need the Rockwell drive shaft. Good luck.
