Shorter springs will always cause a rougher ride, regardless of shocks. I found the KYB Gas-Adjust shocks to be much better than the Bell Tech Nitro Drops, which, for some reason, seem to be popular. You will also need shorter (eye-to-eye) shocks to ensure you are using the center part of the shock's travel. One final thing -- Early Classic sells a rear shock relocator kit that makes the shocks stand up more vertically. When you lower the rear, the shocks lay down at an angle which reduces their travel, so they have little effect on damping the spring bounce.
