billsbowtie, that is an accurate way to checkm but WAAYYY overkill.

But your jack under the center of the diff, put the trans in neutral, and spin one of the tires. If the other spins in the opposite direction or the driveshaft turns (without the other wheel spinning) you have an open diff, (which your's is BTW).

With posi or limited-slip, the wheel will spin the SAME direction.
