Well, if you're talking about where it connects to the rear drum, here's what I did:
Got two pairs of channel locks and pulled the spring back until I could thread the cable out. Took me about a dozen tries and I felt like I'd done a heavy workout! There might have been some expletives thrown in there too.

If it's the front end, dunno waht to tell ya.
