Up here, after the first winter, they'll be as good as welded from the road salt and brine.
However, I'll ask the pipe shop what they'll charge to go ahead and weld them up. I have no issues leaving it just clamped if the fit is good. (plenty of slip fit on factory stuff that holds up for 100k)
