If you want to use the factory a/c controls, then you need to use the sure-fit system for our trucks. With that system, you don't want to shave your firewall completely because the hard lines coming off of the evaporator stick through the firewall just a bit.

If you're not concerned with using the factory controls, then you should use one of their Gen IIunits which is electically controled instead of the cables. With that system you can shave your firewall, but will have to have a bulkhead somewhere to get the lines into the engine compartment.
